The first bank I had that wonderful experience was with Diamond bank and now it seems that UBA has also joined in as I didn't have to fill in a physical deposit slip just to pay in money into an account. It saved my time and avoided me a whole lot of stress. Nowadays, a cash depositor at UBA just has to write down the account number, name, amount and depositor's name on any readable piece of paper in order to deposit money at any UBA bank branch. So, you could just walk into a queue at a UBA branch if you have a piece of paper and pen if you want to deposit money.

Not all Nigerian banks have joined the train as it's only a few of them who are gradually doing it. For bank customers like me, I'm very much in love with this new initiative and what we get is a printed receipt from the bank after the payment has been successful.

One reason why I think banks are now following this trend is to save costs associated with printing deposit slips and another reason could be to make it easier for customers to deposit money. A third reason may be to help make the world a greener place by using less paper although I doubt if many Nigerian banks really work towards that.

What effect would this experience have on my relationship with UBA? Well, I'm more likely going to keep going to UBA and any other bank t deposit money as long as I know that I'm not going to waste time filling in a deposit slip that asks for a lot of unnecessary questions like where I live and my phone number.

Kudos to UBA for this new initiative.
