Opening a savings account with GTBank is quite easy and you could do this within 24 hrs and even internet service would be activated for you for free, no hidden charges.

Things you will need
===============
- Personal identification: Drivers license, international passport or National id card is acceptable.
- Proof of address: Utility bills for PHCN, Water or waste bill will do. It should carry your physical address and not more than 3 months old
- Minimum opening balance: At least N2000
- Passport sized Photograph: At least 2 copies and be recent
- Filled Application forms

How to open an account
=======================
- Visit a close GTBank branch
- Meet with customer service and request for a savings account opening form
- Fill the form and submit with copies of identification: Ensure you include your phone number, contact address and email.
- Indicate your interest for internet banking, sms alerts and ATM services if you'd want them
- Make a cash deposit to an account number that would be given to you
- Submit a copy of the teller to customer service
- Wait for some days for your new savings account number to be activated.

You should be able to start using your account for cash deposits and withdrawals and an ATM card would also be issued to you along with internet banking service within a few weeks.

Well, you should open a GTCrea8 eSavers account. It is a savings account targeted at students and the only requirements are:

- A Duly completed application form
- A valid means of ID i.e. School ID card or School Admission Letter along with any other form of ID card
- One passport photograph.

You don't need a driving license or national id

Did you subscriber for sms alerts? Well if you have not been receiving text messages from your bank, you just have to visit them and subscribe for the sms alerts.

At least you remember your name, phone number and address. You can always go to the bank to tell them to search for your account number. They have your picture and personal details in their database. Just visit customer service. It would be faster if you had registered your mobile phone with them though.

I'm not sure you can open an account without some form of personal id. I guess you can try using your ssce card. Just visit customer care of a branch to see how it goes.

If you don't have a student id, maybe you have some other form of id like from church, local govt or library. You should go to the bank with some other id including your Admission letter

Are you a student or trader? Try and get some id card. If you are working for a company, you should request them to make an id card for you. You'll need some form of id to open an account.

For those who still don't have a personal id card, you guys should try out GTBank's mobile money account(Unbanked option). The account just requires your date of birth, mobile phone number, Name and address. You will then be able to save and do withdrawals into that account.

You will have to visit a bank physically in Nigeria to open an account. Unless you are abroad, then you can contact them by email or phone for a diaspora account.

Once you account is opened, apply for internet banking and then you can then access it online using the internet.

If you don't have any form of id, you can apply for a mobile money account with your phone. You can also meet the customer service and inquire if they can still open an account for you without an id

@abdulrazak, I guess you can use your SSCE card if it has not expired. Try to confirm from customer service though.

Of course you can but you should know you may be charged for it. The CBN has placed a withdrawal limit of N500,000 on individual saving accounts. So they'll probably charge around 2%

What is wrong with your national id card? Well other forms of personal id you can use are a reference from an account holder, house visitation, Nigerian passport, school or work card from a reputable institution.

It is possible to open account with those documents. I think ATM cards take about 1 to 2 weeks.

You need some form of personal id to open a bank account. e.g school id, work id, national id, international passport. If you still don't have an id, you may rather open a mobile money account with GTB

It is easy. You just have to download the gtb mobile app on your phone and then register it. You will be sent a text message containing the activation code. USe that code and you will also set up your PIN. After that, you will be able to use the account to send and receive money on your phone.

If you are using a Nokia phone, just go to ovi and get the app. If using an Android, go to Google play. Blackberry is also supported.

If your phone is not a smartphone, then you should get a sim card that supports mobile money.

18 years is the legal age in Nigeria and without that you can't open an account unless someone like your parents or guardian does it for you. GTBank has an account specially for those under 18 and it's called Smart kids save. This can be converted to a normal saving account when you reach 18

1. The kind of account to open,

2. If I can do that with a very old NEPA bill (5 yrs, I don't have any other one),

3. If I can be issued a master card or/and credit
card, because I think I would need it,

Good morning. Sir. Pls I want to open a savings account in Gtb bank. But I don't have a voters card or drivers license or National I'd card. Lastly my sister banks with Gtb in Enugu. She called me and told me that she is stranded and that she needs N1,500. That I shld send it to her. I wntd to go and send it to her account and a friend of mine tld me that your bank doesn't accept N1,500 because it is small is it true. That I can't send someone N1,500 because its small is it true.

1. Yes, you can use a guarantor. 2. You can have more than N1m in your savings account.
3. You can pay in money into your account as many times you want in a week
4. No need to open a company account if you are just saving for a future business but you are allowed to
5. You can send your sister N1500 using mobile money. Try GTBank mobile money or Stanbic mobile money. It is faster and as long as she has a mobile phone, she can collect it from ATM.

You are not yet 18 years so can't open an account on your own. You need to be accompanied with your parent or guardian to open a student account for you. You may also try out mobile banking because that is easier to open

If you don't have an id card, you would need an account holder to guarantee you. Call at the bank and inquire. If it is still not possible, you can always open a GTBank mobile money account even without an id card.

You can always apply for a new ATM card anytime as long as your bank account is still active. You don't need to provide any ID card.

You can open an account yourself as a Nigerian living abroad. Just ask for their NRN GTBank account. If you are in Nigeria but don't want to visit the bank, you can perhaps open a simple mobile money account.

GTBank accounts now come with a new 10 digit account number. Your account number must have been changed already to the new NUBAN number. You can still go to your branch with the old number and they would give you the new number

Their minimum operating as at now is N1000 and that means you can withdraw all your money but leave at least N1000 in the savings account.

Don't you have other things like a recent bank statement, waste bill or water bill? You may also ask customer service if there are other options besides these ones.

Since you already have an id card, no need for bringing passport again. You just need an id card, nepa bill and about 2 or 2 photographs

Why use another person's voter's card? That would be a crime of impersonation and you should not. Only your own personal form of identification is acceptable.

I think you can withdraw any minimum amount but it may incur some charges if you withdraw below the free charge minimum which I think is set at N20k. If withdrawing small amounts of money, it's best to use an ATM card.

It is only people who have subscribed to the sms alert service that would be sent an alert. Perhaps, they already sent an alert to your email if you submitted one. You can go to the bank and make a formal SMS alert request.

The amount you can withdraw from your ATM depends on the limit you have set for it when applying for the card. If your limit allows it, you can withdraw N500,000 from it if you want but msot Nigerian ATMs don't pay it at once as it seems they pay mostly in units of N20k per transaction.

Is it the same account number? If it's the same, then you should get the money. You may also check your new account balance or transaction history to know if the money sent by your brother has been credited else you should tell your bank of the problem and they'll easily rectify it.

I don't think they will accept a foreign bill. The purpose of the bill is to get a proof of address in Nigeria. You can get something else like a tenement rate bill or water bill.

You can open something like a student account with that WAEC card. For a regular account, you need a regular govt issued ID card as far as I know.

I'm no sure you can open a regular savings account if you are less than 18 years but you can try opening their e-saver's account online.

Yes, you can always upgrade your account to remove the limit on how much you can receive. They would require you to provide more documents like valid passport, utility bill etc.

If you need Nepa bill, go to Nepa office and make payment to gt a receipt. You also need a govt issued id card like international passport, driving license or national ID card to upgrade your account.

Yes, you can still use the old account although the account number would have changed. Just visit a GTBank branch and ask for your new account number by giving them the old number.
