- Visit a close Diamond bank branch
- Request for an SavingsXtra account opening form at the Customer service desk
- Deposit at the bank
- Fill and submit the form with a copy of your teller and other documents

An account will be opened for you within a few days.

What kind of personal id can you use at Diamond bank?
You can use an international passport, driver's license, national id or student id card.

What kind of utility bill can you use?
PHCN, Waste, Nitel, Water bills are welcome.

Here are bank accounts you can open with at least N1000:

- Sterling bank Classic Savings Account
- Access Bank Standard Savings Account
- FCMB Naira wise account
- Fidelity Bank Personal Savings account
- Diamond Savings Account

So for Diamond bank, you can open a basic savings account with just N1000 and not the savingsxtra I mentioned in this post

Go to customer service and tell them your problem. They may offer other alternatives to id card. Besides, you can also try out FCMB naira wise account and for that, you don't even need an id card

@Obiechefu, if you are concerned about interest on yoru savings, it would be wiser to go for their Diamond HIDA. Those accounts pay higher interest on your savings monthly as long as you hardly withdraw from it.

Less than N100,000 - 3.6% p.a
N100,000 >N499,999 - 4.0% p.a
N500,000 >N999,999 - 5.0% p.a
N1 million and above - 6.0% p.a

Simply go to your branch and request for a printed statement of account. If you see the 252,750 in your account, you'd know where it is coming from.

Nigerians do open bank accounts from abroad using what we call diaspora banking. In your case, I think you can still correspond with your bank. Just check their website and send then an email for your internet banking service.

I think the minimum balance should be N5,000 for the savings xtra. You may not be able to withdraw all your money unless you want to close the account. As for accounts that pay high interest rate, Diamond's HIDA are the ones I know that pay high interest. Savings xtra interest rate.

Welldone Mr. Felix for patiently attending to enquiries and complaints by your bank's customers. My mum banks with Diamond and from time to time i assist her with some of her transactions. Please, I have a saving extra account already, I have saved severally and withdrew severally too, though with my ATM card. But to my greatest surprise, sometime last month, I was financially stranded, having #22,000 plus in my account, I decided to withdraw #5000, I inserted my ATM card in machines the reply I got and still getting till this moment is that "YOU HAVE EXCEEDED YOUR MINIMUM WITHRAWAL". Please, what is the solution, because it is somehow embarrassing.

Since the cheque is in foreign currency, your bank may require you to at least have a foreign currency account. You can then pay the cheque into that foreign currency account to clear within 21 working days

@Seun, 1.4million can't get missing like that without records. First thing to do is write an official letter to the branch Manager making your complaint. You can also send an email to the head office complaints@diamondbank.com. You may also go ahead and call their head office with the number 234-01-4489830 to make your complaint. For record purposes, you should make a copy of the voice call, email and other facts supporting your case.
You need to also get a statement of account from the bank before and after that problem happened.

It might just be an oversight or a corrupt staff stole the money and not the bank.

If the bank still doesn't do anything for about 3 months or more, you can go ahead an sue them through a lawyer even for N10m. Banks are more likely to settle out of court if they are sure they are at fault and to prevent them getting bad publicity.

Diamond bank is worth billions and so they won't deny you your rights. As long as the bank is existing, your money can't get missing like that. If the branch can't handle your case, you can go to their head office.

The minimum opening balance is N100k for now. You can withdraw all your money if you wish and that can only be cone over the counter and not with atm card.

Yes it is possible. It is a Diamond bank account that works in partnership with MTN but it's not the regular diamond savings account.

Since you've already received your username, the next step is to go to Diamond bank's website, click on internet banking, click the the Request or Forgot password link, enter any other required details and a default password will be sent to you.

You will then use the password to log in the first time and then change it afterwards to something you can remember.

Just having at least N5000 in your account qualifies you but if you add more money, it increases your chances. N5000 is like a single vote.
