First Bank of Nigeria, truly the first bank in Nigeria has launched their own instant airtime top-up service to her customers and this appears to be the fastest way to load airtime topup in Nigeria.

To load airtime instantly to your GSM powered mobile phone as a First Bank customer, you just need to dial the USSD code *894*amount# and the airtime amount requested will be loaded.

Let's say you want to load an airtime credit of 1000 Naira to your GSM sim, you just need to dial the USSD code *894*1000# and the airtime value will be loaded instantly.

Are there any charges or fees for using this service? Well, nothing significant other than about N4 charge I noticed that will be deducted from your existing balance for the USSD code you dialed. So, I guess you need to at least have N4 in your balance before being able to access this service.

What I like about this service is that there is no need to visit your bank to register for it but as long as you are already an existing bank customer and your phone is already registered with your bank, you can easily access this service without the need to keep scratching recharge cards.

With First bank's instant airtime topup or recharge service, you don't need to buy airtime from vendors or even an ATM but you can do this from the comfort of your home or office.

If you are a first bank customer in Nigeria, you need to stop entering recharge card PINs or buying them from the web as you could just dial *894*amount# to load any airtime value that you want. The airtime credit is normally loaded by the Virtual top up service offered by your network and your balance will be credited while your First bank account gets debited with the exact value, no extra charges. I think this is a good green initiative as it no longer needs paper for recharge cards.

I have to say that the instant airtime topup service that operates via USSD by Nigerian banks is the fastest way to load airtime for now in Nigeria.

please what is the purpose of deducting N4 for the transaction? while other banks like Gtbank is free of charge. really it's not fair

Re: First Bank Instant Airtime recharge Reply by Felix Okoli on Friday May 22, 2015 at 8:33:35:

The N4 I think they deduct is not from your bank but from your gsm network and it's for sending that USSD request. It's the same for gtbank and others too that use the ussd service.

It's a lie,I uses both GT and First bank and GT does not deduct any money for the service, not fair from First bank.
