Want to open a savings account with just N500? Well this is what FCMB is currently offering and you don't necessarily have to have an id card.

FCMB is one of the strong banks in Nigeria which offers a variety of bank accounts. One of their new products they have for people who like saving money is the Naira wise account.

What really is FCMB's Naira wise account all about?

What you get
=============
Operate a savings account with just N500 opening balance
No ID required
Get sms for deposits and withdrawals
Get an ATM card
Get paid Interest on your savings

What you need
===============
- Recent passport photograph
- At least N500 cash

So if you are looking for a basic savings account that doesn't require too many documents or cash from you, I think this is the right one.

I don't think the 1k is necessary for just opening the account. It may also be an additional deposit required into your account in case you also want an ATM card.

I know opening the account requires only N500 but if you also request for an ATM card which is optional, you may have to put more funds into your account like N1000. SMS alerts are normally charged to your account as a debit

SMS alerts are optional while email alerts are free. If you provided an email address while opening the account, they would be sending you you free transaction alerts by email.

I believe you can have up to that in your account. I think the limit is N200k before needing to upgrade the account.
