It's amazing the way banks in Nigeria are making life easier for their customers. Fidelity bank of Nigeria has just introduced an easy way for her customers to recharge airtime credit for their phones and this is as simple as dialing *770*Amount#.

I have to say that 21st century Nigeria is more rewarding than the 20th century. We now have access to more good stuff than we did in the past.

We could recall about 10 years ago or so when GSM companies came to Nigeria and started selling recharge cards. Then, without buying recharge cards, scratching it and then dialing the USSD code together with the secret PIN you will not be able to top up your airtime credit.

Later on, banks made it easy for people to do by introducing airtime top up on ATMs as well as their internet banking service in partnership with Interswitch and Quickteller. Quickteller also launched their website in order to allow people with internet service to also be able to recharge their GSM line without having to use recharge cards.

I have to say that all those initiatives were good and somehow were green in mind since they saved paper and trees. But what has trumped it all is the ability to load airtime credit to your phone by simply dialing a short USSD code.

This is what Fidelity bank is currently offering and there are no hidden fees. All it involves is using your registered mobile phone to dial the code before airtime is automatically loaded to your phone from your bank account. So it works by first of all debiting your Fidelity bank account and then crediting your GSM airtime credit.

Conditions
=========
- Having a Fidelity bank account with sufficient funds
- Having a GSM number linked to your account
- Dialing the USSD code *770*amount# e.g. *770*1500#
- You may only load a maximum of N5000 per day

I think the above conditions really make it a safe service to you and you don't have to bother than someone will hack your account or steal all the money in your bank. It only works with your phone line that has been registered with Fidelity bank and you can always update your phone number with your bank.

The service is available on the following GSM networks: Airtel, Glo and MTN.

Are you using the same phone number that you registered with your bank? Do you currently receive sms alerts on that phone? If it is still not working, you should report it to your bank branch.

Just visit your bank and fill the customer update form with the phone number you want to be using for it.

Only works if and only if there's sufficient credit on the mobile number requesting the service. let me leave it that way
