One of the new services being offered by the ever innovative Access Bank is their new SMS account balance checking.

This is a free service that allows Access bank customers check their account balances with their mobile phones using the sms function.

What that means is that if you have a bank account with Access bank in Nigeria and have registered a mobile phone with them, you can now check your account balance by making use of their SMS balance checking service.

From the way I see it, it is a free service as there are no fees attached to it.

To so this, simply send the following in an SMS to 08160000612:

Bal Account number

You should soon receive an SMS reply of your account balance.

What it implies is that you now have a faster means of checking your account balance using the sms menu and you don't have to visit your bank, use the atm or access internet banking just to check your balance. With sms balance inquiry by Access bank, it makes the work easier.

Another sms related services which Accces bank offers is the SMS alert service and this is an alert you get each time a transaction is made on your account in form of deposit, withdrawals or other actions.

I think you have to first update your new number at your bank branch in order to be able to use the service

Actually, you have to send bal YourBankAccountNumber to the ACCESS bank number using a phone that you registered with the bank

You can send an email to Access bank telling them you don't remember your account number. You may have to provide some personal details like date of birth, name, address and the year you opened the account. They should be able to check for your account by looking through their database
